Privacy notice
Last updated: 28 August 2026 · Pre-launch waitlist and Alpha interest list
Short version: We collect limited adult contact and household-relevance information to manage the Khaya Kids waitlist and identify suitable families for a future Alpha. We do not sell this information. The current app prototype has no child account and does not upload child information.
Who is responsible
Khaya Kids is currently a founder-led pre-launch project. The Futureveld company name is still being finalised and the company has not yet been registered. This notice will be updated with the exact legal entity after registration. Privacy enquiries and requests can be sent to hello@khayakids.co.za.
What the waitlist collects
- Your email address.
- Whether you are a parent, caregiver, grandparent, educator or another participant.
- Whether your household is relevant to Grade R testing.
- Your household's broad home-language category.
- Limited campaign tags in the link you used, such as campaign source or campaign name.
- Your consent record and submission date.
Do not submit a child's name, date of birth, contact details, photograph, recording or other identifying information through the waitlist.
Why we use it
- To confirm and manage your waitlist registration.
- To send relevant product and Alpha-participation updates that you requested.
- To select and contact potentially suitable Alpha families.
- To understand demand in broad, aggregated categories.
- To protect the form against duplicate or abusive submissions.
Service providers and international processing
The site and waitlist use service providers needed to host the website and store submissions, currently including Vercel and Upstash. Business email is handled through Zoho. These providers may process information outside South Africa under their contractual and security arrangements. We do not sell waitlist information.
The current pre-launch page does not load the Meta Pixel or another advertising tracker, and Khaya Kids' first-party page-view/form-start tracking endpoint is disabled. Limited campaign tags are stored only when an adult submits the waitlist form. Hosting providers may still create standard security and access logs.
How long we keep it
Waitlist records are retained while the pre-launch/Alpha programme is active and for no longer than 24 months after the last meaningful contact, unless you ask us to delete them earlier or a legal obligation requires longer retention. Aggregated statistics that no longer identify you may be retained.
Your choices and rights
You may ask us to:
- Confirm whether we hold your information.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Delete your waitlist record.
- Stop sending updates or withdraw your consent.
- Explain or object to how your information is being used.
Email hello@khayakids.co.za. We may need to verify that the email address belongs to you before acting on a request.
Children and the app Alpha
The current lesson-engine prototype is offline-first. It has no child account, advertising, cloud child profile, voice recording, photo capture, location access or behavioural analytics. Before any external family Alpha, participating adults will receive separate information about the test and what is expected. Any future feature that changes these data flows will require a fresh privacy review and updated notice.
Security and complaints
We use access controls and limited-purpose storage, but no online system can be guaranteed completely secure. Please contact us promptly if you believe your information has been mishandled.

Changes
We will update this notice when the company is registered, the Alpha data flow changes, or additional service providers are introduced. The date at the top will show the latest version.
